Iron Bow Technologies Connects U.S. Special Operations Command Central through Cisco’s Tandberg High-D

May 5th, 2010

Chantilly, VA – May 05, 2010

Iron Bow Technologies, formerly Apptis Technology Solutions, a technology solutions provider and value-added reseller, announced today it has been selected to provide a secure and reliable high-definition video collaboration solution to the United States Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT). Working in partnership with TANDBERG (OSLO: TAA), now part of Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO), the implementation will enable multiple distant end-users at multiple sites to communicate securely using video. Iron Bow recently successfully deployed similar configurations and project plans at the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) and the US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). The combined value to Iron Bow of the three implementations is nearly $6 million.

SOCCENT is responsible for planning special operations throughout the United States Central Command area of responsibility, which includes both peacetime training exercises and wartime special operations. SOCCENT required the ability to quickly and seamlessly manage its telecommunications between several geographically disparate locations.

Iron Bow and TANDBERG worked closely with SOCCENT to evaluate its existing infrastructure and select a solution that exceeds the levels of reliability, flexibility and ease of use that the incumbent system provided. Iron Bow emphasizes a “video first” approach to Unified Communications (UC), and on this project ensured that the ability to support video collaboration was the primary emphasis and at the core of the UC and interoperability infrastructure. As a result, SOCCENT chose Cisco’s enterprise-class TANDBERG MSE8000, a highly scalable and flexible, chassis-based platform for high-definition video collaboration and voice communication.

As part of Cisco’s recent acquisition of TANDBERG, the entire existing TANDBERG product line is now part of the Cisco TelePresence portfolio of compelling, innovative, and easy-to-use collaboration applications for immersive, face to face virtual experiences. The integrated Cisco TelePresence portfolio uses a secure, reliable architecture with a complete set of endpoints, infrastructure and cloud services capabilities for high quality experiences at work, in class, or on the road.

“Unified Communications, specifically high-definition video collaboration, has become an integral part of the mission-critical communication needs of the military,” said Rene LaVigne, President and Chief Executive Officer for Iron Bow Technologies. “At Iron Bow Technologies, we’re committed to partnering with top vendors such as Cisco to select the most appropriate and best-of-breed UC applications and network technologies for each implementation, all while maintaining a sharp focus on the customer’s mission.”

As the Number One Platinum Partner in Federal for TANDBERG, now part of Cisco, and a Cisco Gold Partner with a Master Unified Communications (UC) Specialization, Iron Bow draws expertise from a broad range of implementation experience and brings a proven record of delivering the specific capabilities that entities like the US Army command require for their critical communications needs.

“We are proud to team with Iron Bow in meeting the communications needs of the US military commands,” said Joel Brunson, President, Public Sector for TANDBERG America’s. “Iron Bow has a mature unified communications practice; consistently demonstrating the technical expertise and commitment to their clients that has made them our top Platinum Partner in the federal space. Educational institutions, hospitals, and federal agencies of all types have discovered the value of high-definition video for natural, secure and reliable communication; and Iron Bow is a valuable partner in meeting the needs of those clients.”
