As federal agencies prepare to make significant IT investments, one of the biggest challenges they face is keeping up with the fast-pace of innovation.

From the Internet of Things (IoE) and big data to cloud computing and mobility, a convergence is happening where all of these technologies, applications and infrastructures are being brought together in key ways.

Thanks to this new shift, agencies will be able to provide more and better services to their constituency, in a tighter budget environment.  In addition, the cloud allows agencies to leverage computer resources when and where they need them. This will serve as the foundation for applying big data technologies that drive key decision-making efforts for agencies.

These are some insights from a recent TechSource podcast interview with Mike Younkers, Director, Systems Engineering, U.S. Federal for Cisco, who also discussed how agency CIOs are becoming more empowered to advance innovation for their agencies.
