Federal agencies are under a tremendous amount of pressure to maximize every bit of compute power in smart and cost-effective ways. Data center consolidation efforts are driving agencies to embrace virtualization for meeting this goal.

In addition, sequestration is pushing federal CIOs to think differently and move away from swapping out equipment every two to three years, which is no longer fiscally possible. When virtualization is done right, it is possible to leverage the power of the data center in the desktop environment for enhanced efficiencies at a reduced cost.

These are some of the insights from a recent TechSource podcast with Keith Maresca, Senior Sales Manager, Federal Desktop Virtualization Solutions at Dell, who also discusses the value of the buying cloud serves that expand and contract as needed.
