Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
The month of May has been designated by the US Congress as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month to recognize the accomplishments and contributions to the United States by Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans.
May was chosen because the migration of the first immigrants from Japan to the United States occurred in May 1843 and the transcontinental railroad with the western portion being largely built by over 20,0000 Asian immigrants was completed in May 1869.
